Canine Genotypes Panel 2.1

Thermo Scientific Canine Genotypes Panels 1.1 and 2.1 are reagents kits for canine parentage testing and identification using Short Tandem Repeat (STR) DNA loci. Due to their high level of informativeness, STRs have become the markers of choice for parentage testing, identification and forensics.

Canine Genotypes Panels 1.1 and 2.1 allow co-amplification of the microsatellites in a single multiplex PCR and provide all the necessary reagents for amplification of the loci. After the PCR DNA fragments are separated and detected in a single electrophoresis injection using Genetic Analyzer. Reagents and protocols of the Canine Genotypes Panels have been optimized to deliver similar peak sizes (amplification yields) for alleles within and among loci. There are 19 primer pairs in each kit, one primer from each pair is end labeled with a fluorescent dye. Canine control DNA is included for PCR and electrophoresis conditions verification. The kits work with very low amounts of input DNA and are suitable for analysis of degraded or impure DNA samples.
The kits employ Phusion Hot Start DNA Polymerase, which is a high efficiency proofreading polymerase. Due to proofreading activity of the enzyme, allele calls represent the true alleles of an individual, instead of 'plus-A peaks' or 'split peaks' typically encountered when using Taq DNA polymerase.

Canine Genotypes Panel 1.1 is a kit for canine genotyping, identification, parentage and breed testing. It encompasses the following 19 loci: AHTk211, CXX279, REN169O18, INU055, REN54P11, INRA21, AHT137, REN169D01, AHTh260, AHTk253, INU005, INU030, FH2848, AHT121, FH2054, REN162C04, AHTh171, REN247M23 and Amelogenin (sex determining locus). These markers are included in the 'core panel' of loci recommended by the Applied Genetics Committee of Companying Animals of the International Society for Animal Genetics (ISAG).

Canine Genotypes Panel 2.1 is a kit for canine forensics, identification, parentage and breed testing. It encompasses the following 19 loci: PEZ02, PEZ17, FH2017, FH2309, PEZ05, FH2001, FH2328, FH2004, FH2361, PEZ21, FH2054, FH3377, FH2107, FH2088, vWF.X, FH2010, PEZ16 FH3313 and ZFX/Y (sex determining locus). These markers underwent a large developmental and validation study and were standardized for use in forensics (see references).
